GE Power has received a contract from Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to provide maintenance, parts, and repairs services for eight GE 7F.05 gas turbines installed at Riyadh Power Plant 12 (PP12).
The $141m deal is valid for a period of nine years.
As part of the service agreement, SEC will monitor PP12's equipment at the Saudi PowerGen Efficiency Center (SPEC) facility situated at GE Manufacturing & Technology Center (GEMTEC) in Dammam.
SPEC is a collaboration between GE and SEC that helps ensure smooth operations and reduced downtime at power plants.
President and CEO of GE Power Services' business in the Middle East and Africa Joseph Anis said: "We are committed to offering the latest solutions and strengthening our local presence to support SEC's assets and resource-use optimisation.
"The advanced monitoring and diagnostics services provided through SPEC will help to boost the plant's operational reliability and mitigate unplanned outages."
As part of a previous contract with SEC, GE provided a number of 7F.05 gas turbines for the PP12 plant. Four entered commercial operations in 2014, while the rest were commissioned in 2015. These combined cycle turbines have already added roughly 1,800MW of power to Saudi Arabia's national grid.
In addition, GE is set to provide 12 new 7F.05 gas turbines for SEC's PP13 and PP14 plants.
