JAWWY CEO Markus Gold told the Gazette that "the telecommunications market is changing very rapidly. Mobile phones are an integral part of people's everyday lives - research shows that Saudis spend more than 4.5 hours using their phones every day."

He added that Saudi youth are heavy users of mobile Apps especially in the fields of social media, transportation (Uber, Careem) and Video.

"Saudis, especially Millennials, are heavy consumers of all things digital and have among the highest usage of YouTube, Twitter and Snapchat in the world. They were looking for a mobile service that matches their digital needs, one that gives them more control and flexibility. For that reason, we set out to create a completely new mobile service that would be digital-first and have its own identity - Jawwy".

In summer 2016, STC launched Jawwy to cater to the increasing demand for digital services, especially from so-called "digital natives".

"The customer can order a Jawwy SIM online and have it delivered to their home, often next day. Once the customer has downloaded the Jawwy App, they can build their own plan, choosing the amount of data and minutes they need. We don't sell predefined packages: we give the customer the flexibility to choose what they want and change whenever they want. If they choose to downgrade, they get back the credit they haven't used, instantly".

"This kind of personalization is unique in the Saudi market. Jawwy also allows customers to share data across several devices, which appeals to Saudi youth, who often use multiple devices. For example, if you've purchased a monthly plan of nine gigabytes, you can share it out across your smartphone and tablet in any combination you choose. Customers can then use the App to monitor their usage in real-time," Golder said.

"And to make life even easier, Jawwy also offers 24/7 customer care online and through peer-to-peer support, eliminating the need to visit a shop or call a hotline."

"Jawwy from STC is all about giving customers control, flexibility and great value for money," Golder noted.
