Vodafone Qatar announced yesterday the appointment of Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah al-Thani as the company's chief operating officer.
Sheikh Hamad joined Vodafone Qatar in 2013 as senior business development manager; in 2014 he was made head of Public Sector Sales and in 2016 took over the role of sales director looking after Enterprise Sales and Mega Projects.
Under his leadership, Vodafone's enterprise market share grew substantially as did the company's position as an ICT and mega projects service provider.
"I'd like to congratulate Sheikh Hamad on his appointment as chief operating officer, a role in which he will play a key part in the future growth and success of the company. I am especially pleased to see a successful national who has proved his capability have a prosperous career in Vodafone," said Vodafone Qatar CEO Ian Gray.
Before joining Vodafone, Sheikh Hamad held multiple roles in the oil and gas sector in the fields of industrial network/cyber, automation and control system engineering. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the faculty of engineering at the University of Ottawa in Canada.
