Chapter: 3 How Securities are Traded?

Section: 9 The Regulating Bodies

Stock markets are administered by the government through Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Since the stock market plays a pivotal role in the economy, it is heavily regulated and closely monitored by the relevant authorities under the governance of the ministry of finance and Central Monetary Agency or Central Bank. In Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) governs the overall operation of the market.
