Activities

The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is the largest electricity provider in the Middle East and North Africa. Established in 2000, SEC is a state-owned joint stock company with a near monopoly on the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Electricity Company's journey began on the 5th of April of 2000 when it was founded as a company aimed at upgrading the Kingdom's energy industry by connecting its networks and leveraging the shared potential to produce and plan energy nationally. The company soon began providing its services in production, transportation, and distribution, which has contributed to improving power efficiency and increasing the reliability of power supply, in addition to encouraging investment in this vital sector. At the beginning of 2002, the company adopted a new organizational structure that strengthened its performance and charted its future directions. In early 2012, the subsequent growth stage was establishing the National Electricity Transmission Company to transport, operate, and maintain electricity transmission systems across the kingdom. In March 2014, the organizational structure of energy trade and partnerships was adopted, strengthening trade relations with energy producers and consumers. Currently, the Saudi Electricity Company has established its name in the energy world, keeping pace with technical development and harnessing its energies to achieve its aspirations. Saudi Electricity has risen as a giant Saudi shareholder company specializing in the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity in the Kingdom, becoming the largest electric power company in the Middle East and North Africa region with a capital of SR 41,665,938,150, thereby achieving a tremendous achievement reflecting the continuous digital transformation, keeping abreast of the vision and aspirations of the homeland. SEC operates 45 power generation plants across the Kingdom, ensuring a reliable supply of electricity to over 7.5 million customers. The company is committed to delivering exceptional customer service through innovative and sustainable solutions. SEC aims to be a leader in the energy sector by adopting a Circular Carbon Economy to manage and reduce emissions. The company is also focused on achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
